my parents began studying in the early 70s, before i was born.

I came home, terrified. I don't know why this time his words stuck. I've heard them for 30 years.

If you take the time to analyse the JW literature your Dad was reading 30 years ago, you will find that what he was telling you regarding the time frame for the arrival of the Watchtower's Armageddon has passed it's use by dates without any angry gods showing up to demonstrate that the leaders of the Watchtower are not just a bunch of nutters. My Dad has been telling me this stuff for 60 years, and his earliest predictions are so far out of whack with what actually occurred that he has to lie to me to pretend he didn't make a mistake by signing up with a bunch of loonies when he was just a kid.

What is the world´s biggest religious fraud?

among several hundreds of candidates i have only picked 3, my question is, who of these is the world s biggest religious fraud?.

founded by russel, claiming to have about 8 mill.

followers, who are dedicated to give their time and money voluntary to 8 old men sitting in a golden palace, whit a number of treasure directors, investing in bonds and real estates.

Disrupting literature carts

i am ready for a little guerilla warfare (no one gets hurt, of course).

but these literature carts in the city need to go.

everytime i walk by its all i can do to keep from knocking the thing over.. any ideas on how to destroy their little stash of paper.. so far my best idea is water, pouring water all over it.

Be nice and take as much litteratrash as they will let you have every time you go past it. Try to get high cost items like Bibles.

Do this when there is high traffic so that they have an audience if they object.

Encourage your friends to do the same.

British museum bible tours

visiting london years ago i had the chance to participate on a bible tour arranged from bethel.

what i remember, it was one out of 12 topics, and a brother or sister served as a guide, showing particular objects related to bible accounts.. at that time, i was quite enthusiastic about it, thinking i learned something valuable.. .

now, being awake to ttatt, i wonder what real scientific value those tours served.. or rather it raises the suspicion, that those tours are for visiting witnesses in order to distract them from many other finds in the museum, that would disprove either the bible or their own theology.. anybody ever made such a tour ?.

It's a trick. They don't want you taking a tour with the museum's own guides, who really know their stuff.

Should I allow my mom to see the grandchildren?

i feel that if you can speak abusive of your own son and wife and shun the.

Your Mum deserves the respect of a Mum, no matter what is thrown at you.

We. as parents, have to earn respect. It is not ours as of right, regardless of whether our kids were planned, or were the result of a night of debauchery or a broken condom (that's me), or whatever.

My parents have had plenty of opportunities to earn my respect and have blown them all by being dishonest with me.

Reading the Bible with my wife.

after she came home today from the meeting and we had a big discussion about the need for christains to meet together.

she was very concerned that i would not survive the coming big a. i suggested that we start reading the bible together (just to show her i wasn't uninterested )and try to keep up with the wt schedule.

she agreed.

Settle down. More is not necessarily better. Best to do a thorough job on one really good subject than distract her from it with an overdose of lesser ones. Be patient and wait until she tells you she has got the point before you move on.

Try not to use printouts. If you can find proof on your bookshelf, or WTLib, use them first.

Is this really a place for Jehovah's Witnesses/Friends

i ask this because i was considering rejoining and the stories i have read only remind me of what was done to me.

is there any clean place to go where good people and fellowship can be had.

it sounds like maybe the people here should get together and start there own thing, like the reorganized latter day saints.

The WT does a very good job of poisoning other religions to its converts. Even though you left, you are still letting it influence your decisions. Did they put you off the Trinity? Guess what ... they never discussed the Trinity as defined in the Catholic Encylopedia. Never. Not once. They only ever discussed Modalism and pretended that were giving the Catholics a jolly good bashing. Weasel words, trickery, quote mining, the SYBITT brochure was a scam. The short paragraph on John 20:28 was pathetic and didn't address any of the problems they have with it. Take a look. Analyse it for honesty phrase by phrase.

As for the honesty of individual JWs, I can get them to lie to me about their church in easily less than five minutes. It's even easier if there is a Worldly present for an audience. Mormons are the same. Ask the right questions and they'll both lie their butts off to not look like members of crazy cults.

If it doesn't matter to you if the WT has it's faults, why does it matter if the Catholics, the Mormons or the Moonies have faults? If you're going to join a church to use it as a social club, I suggest joining one that won't treat you like scum if you ever leave, & that ain't the Dubs the Mormons or the Moonies.

these guys believe that they are running and directing "god's organization" and it is all based on some flimsy parable interpetation about a master who left a slave in charge while he went away with the outcome uncertain upon his return.

not a very solid case to be pointedly honest.

jesus would have made a better choice of donald trump to run his father's business/watchtower corporation, he's less arrogant and doesn't discourage higher education, and plastic children's toys are not a major concern of his.. what is arrogance?.

please need some advice!

how would you handle a situation where your grandkids are being used by their father to manipulate their grandmother into going to the meeings?

grandkids sending text messages to grandmothers phone asking if she will come to their meeting.

grandmother is no longer attending meetings and doesn't wants to she know ttatt.

It works both ways. There are Ex-Dubs wanting to protect their children from Grandma too.

The way these churches work, if you want to leave and still have your family, you have to be the last one out. Being the first IDs you as Satan's Minion, never to be trusted.
